As a Democrat (and a member of the Mississippi Legislative Sportsman Caucus), I'd like to share my opinion on the POLITICO interview quoting Congressman Gregg Harper.

Having read the article in its entirety, I think it is very clear that it is meant to be a light, humorous piece. Its tone is conversational and much of the reaction on the DailyKos site ignores this clear fact.

Many of the comments on the site either misinterpret what Congressman Harper said, or deliberately distort his comments and use obscenity to excite angry knee-jerk opinions that characterize too much of political conversation on the Internet.

The Daily Kaos site is a repugnant and biased website with no moderators.  They haven’t a foot to stand upon if they are offended by someone’s joke.  Of course, it is a Democrat and Soros site so much of the information that comes from it is highly suspect.

Blount is definitely one of the good guys.  He’ll get props from (rational thinking people on) both sides of the aisle on this one.

Maybe Travis Childers should come out with something like this. Oh, that’s right.  He voted for Pelosi so he’s got that muzzel on.

Both liberals and conservatives that believe Congressman Harper’s remarks were made in anything other than jest are certainly misguided. I thought his comment was witty and humorous.

But you must remember, liberals have little sense of humor - only outrage at Haley Barbour and Fox News

I’m glad to see Sen. Blount make this statement.  As one of the liberal Democrats in Rep. Harper’s district, I chuckled when I read the quote in the JFP and turned the page to find the music listings.
