How anyone could support this woman’s candidacy after listening to this tape is beyond my comprehension. Folks wonder what is wrong with this country?  It’s people like Angela McGlowan, and Angela herself.

If she was ever elected to office in Washington I could see her being an ally of Pelosi, Waters, Boxer, Obama, and would probably switch to the Democratic Party.

Sounds like a Democrat. Does anyone know the story of when she became republican. I have heard, but cannot verify, that she was liberal and then suddenly became a GOP in the early 90’s? Anyone know?

My problem when I heard this was not as much what she said but how she said it.  I will admit she stepped off the diving board without even knowing it.  She quickly could have retreated after making a mistake and said that she needed to look more into the bill.  Instead she came back with an attitude of “I know what is best for you.” It was her attitude that really got me and not what she said.  I could handle the fact that she did not understand the importance of registering guns.  She lives in DC which is why she did not understand and this is what makes her out of touch with her voters.

I agree with you Contract with America, and I would add that I believe she isn’t smart enough to know when to retreat after making the mistake she did.

Doesn’t seem like ignorance of the specific bill is the issue at all.  She clearly believes that a general gun registration would be beneficial to reduce access to guns by bad actors, and that would be a net plus.  Wrong as it is, lot’s of folks take this position.

It’s one thing to have a disagreement between folks who are making and answering coherent arguments, but she’s been shredded and doesn’t seem to notice:  “Come back here, I’ll bite your arm off!” Kinda frightening.

I detest her arrogance.  I think I’d vote for Childers before her.

CDavidS...Maybe the supposed arrogance of Davis was the reason some of the highly criticized so called Republican folks went with Childers before.  I will vote for an arrogant Independent or an arrogant Republican any time before I will vote for the backroom dealing/Langston loving/Pelosi puppy/everyday opportunist Childers.  Vote Childers and you vote Barney Frank (remember the fund raising breakfast he had for Childers) Nancy Pelosi, Henry Waxman and the like kind.

I’m not in the district and don’t have a dog in the race, but; if the race is between McGowan and Childers there is no doubt which would be the best candidate. Even if there aren’t any perfect candidates the goal should be to always vote for one that has the public interest in mind rather than putting more control in the hands of government.
Listening to Sid Salters recently and hearing one of our leaders view on a bill that would require parents be responsible for their child wearing protective gear while riding an ATV, one would think this is a good idea. But, if you look at the outcome one will see that it only enriches government. A bill that would give a warning for first offense with taking possession after the second offense and destroying it would be something that would deter children getting killed. If the government confiscates the ATV and turns around and sells the unit for money it serves the same interest as the big increase in tobacco taxes that it will save lives by discouraging sales, and on finding a warehouse of untaxed tobacco it is sold for the revenue obtained instead of destroying it to preserve the health of the public. One only has to watch the goals of our leaders to see whether their goals are for truly protecting the lives of children or finding a way to get more revenue for government.

mudcreek,,, I know Greg Davis very well. No arrogance there.  What some took for that was he’s a pretty shy person.  You won’t find a more down to earth person.  However, that fire has already gone out and no sense trying to kindle a spark of controversy.  For better or worse, he was a true conservative.

With McGlowan, You DON’T know what you’d be getting.  She’s a racists and you could tell from that interview she is.  I’d never vote for her.  I’d stay home first and let the chips fall where they may.  For now, I fully support Senator Nunnelee.  If Henry Ross were to take the nomination, I’d give him money and fully support him.  Both are real conservatives.  I’d never vote for a gun grabbing racists.

well said windeaces.  well said.

I will be honest; that is the first time I have actually heard the dialogue between McGlowan and Gallo.  And, I couldn’t help but grimace as she kept talking.  I don’t see how she can fully recover from that to take the nomination.  I just hope she doesn’t end up hurting the GOP’s chances of taking the seat .

Like others, I too grimaced when listening to this. She came off as shallow, immature and actually crude at times.

Angela...please...if you are truly a Republican, gracefully back away from this house race.

I’m grimacing too as I write this, knowing that awful Childers is smiling when reading this.

Assuming that Childers is unopposed in the Democratic primary, his supporters will be able to “raid” the Republican primary and vote for the candidate that they think will be the easiest for Childers to defeat.

This situation is a strong argument for a party to be able to control who votes in its primaries.

State law, of course, requires parties to let any voter participate in their primaries.

Steve,

You are right on.  This is what I have been afraid of the whole time.  This race would be a prime target for a “Operation Chaos” in the 1st.  I hope that there are local elections that will matter in many counties.  Gallo commented on her quotes directed at him today.  He was fired up because she said it was a trap.  I think that she is just digging a deeper whole by blaming everone but herself and admitting that she was wrong.  The good thing is that Nunnelle does not have to go negative himself it is being done without him getting his hads dirty.

I’m surprised that McGlowan has stumbled, as she’s been pretty sharp in her TV appearances that I’ve seen.

Childers and his minions would love to see the Republicans slice each other up.

Idaho has a party primary system similar to Mississippi’s, and the Republican Party there has brought a federal suit against the state law.  However, it will likely be several more years before the case is finalized (I predict that, when such a suit reaches the U. S. Supreme Court, the justices will strike down this state-mandated primary system).

I’ve written several pieces on the Idaho case and will post another in the next day or two:  Free Citizen.

There are also strong rumblings among South Carolina’s Republicans against that state’s Mississippi-style party primary system.

McGlowan responds:

“Though, I am human and do make mistakes. Last year, as a Fox News political analyst, I participated in Paul Gallo’s radio show and, after admitting that I didn’t have a clue as to what the Blair-Holt Amendment was, made the mistake of talking about a piece of legislation that I knew nothing about, compounded that honest mistake by playing ‘devil’s advocate’, which is how political analysts are trained to provoke debate, and failed to circle back with the audience to make clear my personal, unequivocal support for the gun rights of law abiding Mississippians. And, for these mistakes I am truly sorry,” she said.

McGlowan added that “I can assure the people of Mississippi that, as God is my witness, I strongly oppose the Blair-Holt Act and will fight harder than any human being alive to protect law-abiding Mississippians Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.”

Posted that link before I could comment, but she just makes it worse.  If you dont know about something, you dont comment. But even so, she went beyond the “Well, I think...” and clearly stated she did not have a problem with gun registration and then acted arrogant and pissed off when questioned.

Steve and Contract with America are exactly right.  Childers is a very astute politician and no doubt, if un opposed in the primary, will have his supporters voting in the Republican primary for the person he believes to be the weakest Republican candidate.

What about the racist comments she made?  Is that okay if it comes from her?  Would not people be all upset if Ross or Nunnelee were to make such statements about a race war because of a black president?

Besides that, now she’s blaming Gallo for a misunderstanding and she plainly clarified herself at the very end of this interview.  I think she’s full of it.
