Jim Hood is one of the nation's worst state attorney generals

Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood has a truly awful record, as today’s Wall Street Journal notes, citing his links to trial lawyers who tried to bribe a judge, and his dishonest attempts to deny those links.

CEI recently rated the nation’s worst state attorney generals, but it only listed the six worst, which didn’t include Hood. Hood clearly would make a list of the top ten worst state attorney generals, though.

the wsj is a rightwing, conservative newspaper; but, this is one of its positions on which i agree (even if for a host of other reasons). the question then becomes:  is he ONE among many that the wsj considers to be “the worst” (any democrat) or IS HE INDEED—THE worst??

I had a brilliant thought today.  Haley Barbour should run for attorney general of Mississippi.  He can clean up the mess in 4 years and move on.

Who is running against HOOD?  The whole state knows he plays dirty politics and he worked closely with his “friends” the crooked trial lawyers, some of which are now in jail.  He tried and shake down the insurance industry and now trying to shake down BP for the betterment of the trial lawyers and friends in the state.  In my opinion he should have been run out of office when all the stuff with Scruggs and others came to light.  It should be an easy victory for an honest lawyer Republican or Democrat to send this guy to the private sector.  All I want is a level playing field.

Steve Simpson has said he will run.  Unless something changes, he will be running in the GOP primary.  Not sure if there are others who will get in on the GOP side.

Haley Barbour for Attorney General!

If not, let’s get Charlie Ross to run.  He is honest and VERY smart, although not the most personable.  I’d love him as AG.

I agree on Ross.  I would like to move past voting on someone simply because they are a good speaker.
