Rep. Jay Hughes (D) has filed HB 475 that would make

the emails and calendars regarding any legislation or the carrying out of any official duties of the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, President of the Senate, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Speaker Pro Tempore of the House of Representatives, and all of their staff, required to be preserved and made available to the public

One thing Mississippi does have is a pretty good public records law. It's been used here at Y'all Politics extensively over the years. Not surprisingly, the bill was double referred to both Rules and the Accountability committees.

Given Hughes' stance towards House leadership, it seems like a dig of sorts, which is certainly fine for him to do. But when legislators like Hughes that would have trouble getting a Motion to Adjourn passed through the body (probably not even carrying his own party's votes), it's hard to take this too seriously.

Nevertheless, Rep. Hughes, congrats! You've authored our #msleg . . . . #billoftheday.
