COCHRAN STATEMENT ON NOMINATION OF SONNY PERDUE FOR AGRICULTURE SECRETARY
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) today released the
following statement regarding President-elect Donald Trump's intention to
nominate former Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue to be Secretary of Agriculture:
"Federal agriculture and nutrition programs have a tremendous impact on
Mississippians each day. I look forward to meeting with Governor Perdue to
discuss how we can work together to strengthen agriculture and rural
development in Mississippi. Governor Perdue's outlook and experience are
strong indications that the Trump administration understands the importance
of rural America and will promote U.S. agriculture as essential to national
security and economic growth."
Cochran is a senior member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, which
will consider Perdue's nomination.
