Cochran Votes with Ag Committee to Report USDA Nominee Perdue to Senate
U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) today voted
to favorably recommend confirmation of Sonny Perdue to be the next Secretary of Agriculture. A bipartisan majority of Senate Agriculture Committee on Thursday voted to report Perdue's nomination to the full Senate for consideration.
The former Georgia Governor has the bipartisan support of six past Agriculture Secretaries
. Perdue also has the support of more than 650 agriculture groups
from across the nation, including the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation, Mississippi Peanut Growers Association, Mississippi Rice Council, Mississippi Soybean Association, Southeastern Lumber Manufacturers Association, Southern Cotton Ginners Association, Southern Peanut Farmers Federation and others.
