As if this matter cannot get any stranger, there are letters provided by Insurance Coverage Blog that document several snarky letters between Union County Attorney Steve Livingston, Balducci's "partner" former State Auditor Steve Patterson (D) and the Mississippi Bar. They reveal that Balducci has listed as Of Counsel with this firm Former Governor Bill Allain (D) and Former Hinds County DA Ed Peters (D).

What will be interesting is to see is whether or not Peters (a generally respected member of the bar) and Allain (a NE MS powerbroker) will seek to distance themselves from Balducci's admitted guilt and Patterson's business practices.

There is no question that Scruggs and Company like to see this relative imbalance on behalf of Balducci and Patterson, who they will continue to throw under the bus.

This is hitting a whole new level of strange.  Patterson has a reputation as a scumbag, and his letters here to nothing to dispel that impression.  But it is hard to fathom why Allain and Peters would saddle up with Patterson and Balducci.

I have it on good authority that Patterson spent sufficient time, Pre-Katrina, shooting craps with Nagin in an Orleans Parish school bus, to include himself, along with Bush, as among those having caused the levee breach. And, Alan, can we assume that your use of the term ‘saddle up’ was no intentional reference to the Brokeback theme?
