CHILDERS - "While I could not vote for today’s bill ..."
Washington, DC – Congressman Travis Childers (MS-01) released the following statement regarding his vote on the House health care reform bill, H.R. 3962:
“Today’s vote represents just one step in a long process. The Senate still has to act on its own legislation and we don’t know what the conference report, the final legislation, will look like after that. While I could not vote for today’s bill, I remain committed to effective, fiscally responsible health care reform that will lower premiums for hard-working Mississippians, ensure coverage for individuals with preexisting conditions, prohibit federal funding for abortion, and provide equal access to care for individuals in rural communities.”
Attached is a list of more than 50 meetings and events which Congressman Childers participated in to prepare for this vote.

In other words, if I wasn’t shaking in my penny loafers about Alan Nunelee beating me over the head with it, I probably would have voted for it. If I can get past him and reach a point where I don’t have strong challengers, I’ll not have to worry about this kinda crap and can vote like a Dem.
It gets lost in the translation sometimes.
