Maj. in Miss: Ghost of Districts past - MS-5 has 30 jobs saved by stimulus

And by MS-05 I mean Mississippi’s Fifth Congressional District, the district that disappeared almost a decade ago. Miraculously, the $787 billion stimulus has created or “saved” 30 jobs in that extinct district at the cost of more than $984,000 (which is relatively cheap at about $32,000 a job). This information is courtesy of WatchDog.org, who reviewed recovery.org to find the government reported spending $6.4 billion on 440 congressional districts that do not exist.

The website that these reports come from is reported to cost us the taxpayer 18 million dollars.  You would think with that much money they could at least provide a template that listed the districts rather than just collect e-mails.

Stimulus saves nine out of every five jobs

President Barack Obama’s economic recovery program saved 935 jobs at the Southwest Georgia Community Action Council, an impressive success story for the stimulus plan. Trouble is, only 508 people work there.

The Georgia nonprofit’s inflated job count is among persisting errors in the government’s latest effort to measure the effect of the $787 billion stimulus plan despite White House promises last week that the new data would undergo an “extensive review” to root out errors discovered in an earlier report.

Do not laugh at the job figures from the 5th district.  Those jobs are real.  I know because Rod Serling told me so.
