District 31 Senator Terry C. Burton was most recently appointed by Lt. Governor Tate Reeves to the Mississippi Home Corporation Oversight Committee, where his keen knowledge of government will be an asset.
Burton currently serves as Chairman of the Senate Universities and Colleges Committee and is Vice Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, among other responsibilities.
“I am confident that you will be an asset to this committee,” Lt. Governor Reeves said to Burton.
The term begins immediately and expires on January 3, 2016.
The Mississippi Home Corporation is a self-supporting agency charged with raising funds from the private sector to finance the acquisition, construction and rehabilitation of residential housing for low to moderate income residents.
Lt. Governor Reeves also appointed Burton to the Medical Care Advisory Committee, charged with ensuring that state health care resources are maximized.
“The committee will meet regularly with Medicaid and advise on health care issues facing the poor and elderly and focus on how Medicaid can best address those issues. I am very grateful to Lt. Governor Reeves for his confidence in my abilities to serve on these very important areas of state government, particularly the Medicaid issues and the effect of national changes in healthcare and the impact on our state budget and more importantly the impact on our citizens,” Burton said.
