Scruggs donated $34K to Hood's Campaign on 7/9/7

Hood's famous "confidential informant" letter to Alice Martin on behalf of Scruggs on 7/16/7

According to DAGA's Tax Disclosure . . .

Scruggs Firm chipped in $100K to DAGA on 10/2/7
Scruggs Firm then popped in for $200K to DAGA on 10/17/7

UPDATE - We made a minor error in attributing $300K to Scruggs in one payment on 10/17. If you will notice on page 8 of the report, on 10/17, it lists a $300K aggregate YTD contribution, but only $200K for that day. The Langston Law Firm had donated $100K on 10/2/7 as well as Scruggs, so the total outlay of $400K via DAGA remains correct, but the percentage of what Scruggs gave is slightly less. We apologize about the error and have corrected it.
That totals $400K.

On page 12, note the following . . .

DAGA put $250K to Hood on 10/19/7
DAGA then put another $150K to Hood on 10/24/7

Hmmm...I’d like to see how much big “tobaccy” gave to Barbour when he ran fo’ “guvner.”

Well nerbo............that is quite the assignment for someone, so, why don’t you look this up? Should be easy as he ran twice and had very little trouble. I’m curious myself but, I’m such a busy person. Might start with the Governors Office found on http://www.ms.gov

One thing for sure, didn’t much come from Scruggs.

Look at the secretary of state’s website.  There you’ll find all campaign contributions.  Look it up and let us all know.  Your report is due by 2.p.m.

Let’s try this.  Why don’t you do it, Nerboo?  You seem to know where to go.  I’ll be interested too.  I think everyone would be enthralled with the quality of your reporting.

Alan,
I thought you sounded good on Gallo this morning.  I wish we all could have your smart straightforwardness, but also show tact as you did on the air.  Hey you even got me up at 6:30 to listen, which was a good feat.

I’m not the one with the website Alan.  My statement was purely rhetorical.  I simply think that it’s not just the Democrats who funnel money to their buddies.  It’s all special interest group, be it the Chamber of Commerce or trial attorneys.  Don’t denigrate someone just because they pose a question. I don’t care at all for Hood or Scruggs, but I don’t care for most politicians either.

Ah Nerbo.............that’s not exactly the report we were all looking for but, this will do. I have one question: Do you vote?

Posted by jman on 02-07-2008 at 08:11 AM [link]

Yes, I vote (always have).  Voted for Haley in fact the first time.

Posted by nerboo on 02-07-2008 at 08:36 AM [link]

What happened the 2nd time..........was he just doing too good of a job after Katrina?

jman:  am i seeing a little testiness in here?  oh, look who’s fussing!?!. (tehehe) i’m putting you up for referee.

Nerboo, I haven’t looked, but I’d venture to guess that Haley did receive (directly and indirectly) some t’bacco moneys.  I doubt they were 20% of his 2007 election spend or even anywhere close to that.  I could be wrong, but I’d bet against it.  And even if they were, I doubt you could find the timing on those contributions as financially or legally as suspect as those between Scruggs and Hood.

Feel free to go get the data and prove me wrong, but that’s not my focus right now.

Error duly noted. Minor at best.

Gentlemen - If you are really interested in finding out about the Guv and “backy” money, contact Steve Holland.  He’s big on checking people out.

Not sure where this goes, Alan, but JT & Dave have a thing Tuesday......
http://news.mywebpal.com/index.cfm?pnpid=576
but i am quite sure some of my friends take issue to ILLEGALS being able to vote as to who my dog catcher is.

Wow............sounds interesting. Wonder what B I L L Y will say concerning this issue. I imagine Holland will blow some fluff in his ear and that will be that. Billy ain’t steady enough to take on JT/Dave without some backup and he don’t have the support he once had. I’d love to be there.

Billly won’t acknowledge, J, and Haley will be speaking another TRUTH on that particular Tuesday.  Should be fun!
