One Representative in the House took making his point to a whole new level when he waved a gun and his enhanced carry permit in-front of lawmakers on the House floor.
Rep. Charles Young was debating HB 1083 when he brandished a handgun on the floor. Young was fighting against the bill that would allow an individual to challenge a policy or rule enacted by an agency that would not allow them to carry a firearm at that location even if they had an enhance carry permit.
Author of the bill Rep. Andy Gipson says this bill doesn’t change the law at all, only offers permit holders an option if refused their right to carry. It’s caused quite a stir among sports fans after the Chairman of the SEC sent letters to both MSU and Ole Miss explaining their deep concern over allowing weapons into large sporting events, or even on campus.

Rep. Young was escorted off of the floor by the Sgt. at Arms. Rep. David Baria asked if anyone else had a gun on the floor and Speaker Philip Gunn said as far as he was concerned, that was the only one to his knowledge. That led to several “ahhhh” and “ohhhh” comments from legislators.
This is turning out to be quite the deadline day.
