A bill that has already been passed and sent to the Governor for approval would delete the repealer on a previous texting and driving law. The bill, authored by Rep. White, would no longer be brought before lawmakers, making texting and driving on a handheld device against the law indefinitely.

 AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 63-33-1, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO DELETE THE REPEALER ON THE STATUTE PROHIBITING TEXTING AND 
USING SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES ON A HAND-HELD MOBILE TELEPHONE 
WHILE OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
