Republican U.S. Senate candidate Chris McDaniel announced today that he has received the endorsement of former State Senator Tony Smith.
“Serving with Chris in the state senate was truly a pleasure,” Smith said. “He is as staunch a conservative as they come. He was Donald Trump before Trump was even on the scene.”
“While serving with Chris, it was clear he was one of the hardest working senators in the chamber. He put countless hours of research and heavy lifting into drafting bills,” Smith said. “On the biggest, most contentious issues, Chris often carried the debate on behalf of the conservatives from the podium,” he continued, “and not only did he take the fight to the Democrats on behalf of conservatives, he did his best to make sure conservatism was paramount in the Republican platform on a daily basis.”
“Because of his dedicated work and success in the state senate, Chris has been recognized by numerous industries and associations as legislator of the year,” he said. “I think this speaks directly to his character and commitment to best serving Mississippians.”
Smith served alongside McDaniel in the legislature from 2012-2015.
“Chris is the only candidate in this race who will fight for Mississippi values and fight to get President Trump’s agenda passed,” Smith added.
Smith currently serves as an Alderman for the city of Poplarville and the owner of Stonewall’s BBQ in Picayune.
