Today, Mississippi’s former Third Congressional District Congressman, conservative Republican Gregg Harper announced his endorsement of Commissioner Andy Gipson, Mississippi’s Republican Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce.

Congressman Harper served Mississippi in Washington, representing the Third Congressional District from 2009-2019. Prior to that, he served for eight years as Chairman of the Rankin County Republican Party.

“I’ve known Andy Gipson since he was first elected to serve Rankin, Simpson and Smith Counties in the Mississippi House of Representatives. Andy is a strong conservative leader with the background, skills, and energy to lead Mississippi agriculture and commerce into the future,” said Harper. “Andy grew up here in Rankin County, and he and Leslie are raising their children on the farm in Simpson County. Andy is doing a fantastic job as Commissioner and I strongly support his efforts to continue doing so.”

“I have long admired the character, leadership and public service of my friend Congressman Gregg Harper,” said Gipson. “Gregg knows what it means to represent Mississippi values, and it means so much to Leslie and me to have his endorsement.”

Governor Phil Bryant appointed Andy Gipson to serve as Mississippi’s eighth Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce in April 2018. Commissioner Gipson holds many conservative designations including as a pro-life leader in the Legislature, recipient of the National Rifle Association’s Defender of Freedom Award, and was twice-named Mississippi’s Conservative Legislator of the Year. Commissioner Gipson and his wife Leslie reside on their small farm in Simpson County where they raise cattle, timber, and their four children, Joseph, Benjamin, Abigail, and Sarah.
