According to the Secretary of State’s candidate qualifying list, three candidates have filed to run in the Mississippi House District 88 special election to replace Ramona Blackledge.

Blackledge, the freshman state representative, resigned just weeks after being sworn after House leadership ruled against collecting legislative pay while also receiving her state retirement through PERS.

Those seeking to fill the HD 88 seat are Jason Dykes, Robin Robinson, and Michael Walker.

Robinson is the wife of former Southern District Public Service Commissioner Sam Britton.

The qualifying deadline for this special election was March 2.

The special election was set by Governor Tate Reeves for April 21, with a runoff date of May 12, if needed.

Candidates run without party labels in Mississippi special elections.
