Incumbent state Rep. Bo Eaton, D-Taylorsville, who initially appeared to lose his seat by six votes in the general election Nov. 3, and Republican challenger Mark Tullos are reportedly tied after 12 affidavit ballots were counted.
“It’s tied now, but we haven’t verified that,” Smith County Election Commission Chairman Glendell Webb said Thursday morning. “We plan to certify the results and send them to the secretary of state.”
Smith County Circuit Clerk Anthony Grayson said late Thursday the election had been certified with the total for the multi-county legislative district of 4,589 votes for each candidate. Grayson said the totals have been submitted to the secretary of state’s office.
Tullos said Thursday his camp is looking at its options.
