Ag museum rental policy denying use to same-sex couples criticized

Mississippi is once more being called out for its policies some say deny rights to gays and lesbians.

The Southern Poverty Law Center sent a letter Thursday to Charlie Dixon, director of the Mississippi Agriculture & Forestry Museum, asking the museum to cease its policy prohibiting same-sex couples from using the facility for commitment ceremonies.

The correspondence was sent on behalf of Ceara Sturgis, who is seeking to hold a commitment ceremony with her partner, Emily Key, at the museum in the fall.
