JACKSON – The chairmen of the House and Senate Education committees say they know little about a possible alternative to the citizen-sponsored education funding initiative that will be on the November ballot.
Rep. John Moore, R-Brandon, said it will be up to the House leadership – presumably Speaker Philip Gunn, R-Clinton – to decide whether to file an alternative during the 2015 session and what it would say….
…When asked if he would support an alternative, Senate Education Chairman Gray Tollison, R-Oxford, said, “I don’t know. I would have to read it.”
But Tollison said he does support “legislative accountability” to the schools and increased funding for the schools.
