Biloxi’s Matthew Moore replacement Democrat to run against Steven Palazzo

Mississippi Democrats said Thursday that they’ve chosen new candidates to replace the ones who dropped out of congressional races in the 3rd and 4th districts.

State Republican Party Chairman Joe Nosef said he wants Democrats to prove the candidates withdrew for reasons allowed under state law, including illness or financial hardship.

“We are paying very close attention to this,” Nosef told The Associated Press.

The state Board of Election Commissioners is expected to discuss the issue Monday when it meets to set the ballot for the Nov. 6 general election.
