Mississippi holding party primary runoffs Tuesday

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi voters on Tuesday will finish choosing nominees for several offices, including a Democrat to run for governor and a Republican to run for state treasurer.

Polls will be open 7 a.m.-7 p.m., and winners will advance to the Nov. 8 general election.

There are some restrictions on who can vote in which primary runoff.

People who voted in one party’s primary on Aug. 2 are not allowed to cross over and vote in the other party’s runoff on Tuesday.

Those who didn’t vote at all on Aug. 2 may cast a ballot in either runoff. Mississippi does not register voters by party.
