Auburn parents pay price to watch Little League champs take on world

AUBURN — Playing in the Little League World Series is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for 11 kids in this blue-collar city, but a cross-country road trip is putting parents in a financial squeeze play.

“Financially, it’s just really going to hurt,” said Heidi Michalek, mother of infielder Chandler Michalek. “When I think about telling my grandkids about how my kid played in the Little League World Series, I’d rather be able to say I was there to see the whole thing.”
The price tag for the trip to Williamsport, Pa., can run as much as $6,000.
