Gov. Haley Barbour has asked the Mississippi Supreme Court to reconsider a decision he says could impact the changes made to the state’s civil justice laws.
One of the laws passed in the last few years requires a plaintiff to give 60- or 90-day notice to a defendant before filing suit.
The Supreme Court made a ruling last month in a case involving pre-suit notice requirements. Barbour said the court held that a lawsuit filed without giving adequate notice should be dismissed, but the ruling effectively extended the time a lawsuit could be filed.
