Barbour to speak in Sarasota

The man many Republicans were counting on to win the White House in 2012 is coming to Sarasota.

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour is no longer a candidate, but Republicans still see him as a key voice going into the presidential primary season, said Sarasota Republican Party Chairman Joe Gruters.

That is why Gruters fought to get Barbour, who has some of the highest approval ratings of any governor in the nation, to be the keynote speaker at the Sarasota GOP’s annual Statesman Dinner on Nov. 27.
