Colt McCoy is the Heisman Trophy front-runner, but what about the upcoming NFL draft?
The hype surrounding college football’s most prestigious award tends to cloud a player’s chances of leaving early and excelling at the professional level.
McCoy, a junior, has completed 81.2 percent of his passes, with 19 touchdowns and just three interceptions, while leading the Longhorns to No. 1 in this week’s Bowl Championship Series standings.
That’s enough to vault McCoy into the top spot of most Heisman polls. In fact, reigning Heisman winner Tim Tebow of Florida told the Associated Press that McCoy is his midseason pick.
