Big Ten won’t take backseat

Neither the SEC nor the Big 12 can boast that kind of depth at the top. Alabama and Florida are certain top 10 teams but the Tide has to replace nine starters on defense and the Gators must break in John Brantley after the departure of everyone’s All-American Tim Tebow.

Texas and Oklahoma – along with soon-to-be Big Ten team Nebraska – will again contend out of the Big 12. But the Longhorns and Sooners are replacing star quarterbacks (Colt McCoy and Sam Bradford).
