Bobby Howell – Bill Minor has selective memory on Billy McCoy

The article by Bill Minor (“Republican control creates a new day in governing,” Feb. 3) concerning House Speaker Philip Gunn’s committee appointments is so biased that it is laughable.

Speaker Billy McCoy, after his narrow win in 2008, did not appoint any Republicans to even one significant chairmanship.

He appointed eight freshmen Republicans and six veteran Republicans to vice chairmanships of less prominent committees only because House rules do not allow any member to be a chairman or vice chairman of more than one committee.
