Despite Jackson Police Chief Malcolm McMillin’s ban on overtime for officers because of a budget crunch, Mayor Frank Melton’s two bodyguards still are racking up thousands of dollars in OT pay.

Bodyguards Michael Recio and Marcus Wright are being paid as acting sergeants out of the Police Department’s budget, according to Rick Hill, director of city administration.

According to records obtained by The Clarion-Ledger through a public records request, Recio was paid $3,739.82 in overtime between Dec. 1 and Jan. 31. Wright received $3,196.48 in overtime during the same period.
