It’s officially called the 2010 Palmetto State Showdown.
But fans of high school football recognize it more commonly as the Byrnes 7-on-7.
No matter the name, it is one of the premier 7-on-7 tournaments in the Atlantic East and it is set to go this week with a field of 20 teams competing for one of the most prestigious titles along the east coast.
“We have worked really hard to make this event special,” event coordinator Tony McAbee said. “We modeled our event after the Hoover 7-on-7 and we hope that it can be as special.”
