The Mississippi Book Festival holds its annual “literary lawn party” on the grounds of the Mississippi State Capitol Building in downtown Jackson. The accessible and stately rooms of the Capitol and Galloway United Methodist Church and The Foundery at Galloway become venues for distinguished panelists, the verdant lawn a gathering place for book lovers, and the surrounding streets a marketplace for booksellers and food trucks. C-SPAN broadcasts live from the Old Supreme Court Room in the Capitol building, tours are scheduled throughout the day, and the Library of Congress has a special exhibit in the Rotunda. Live music and children’s activities are conveniently located along West Street. The entire event is handicap accessible and free parking is available on public streets and in the garages of the Woolfolk and Walter Sillers Buildings. As elements of the event come together, we encourage you to check back often for details.
