The attorneys for former U.S. Rep. Chip Pickering and a youth soccer coach, both charged with simple assault from a weekend scuffle, will meet this morning with Municipal Judge Dale Danks Jr. to discuss resolving the issue.
Danks called the meeting, said Mac McCool, attorney for Chris Hester, the coach who had a run-in with Pickering after a soccer match at Liberty Park on Sunday.
Asked if the dispute could be settled out of court, McCool said, “We’d certainly listen. We’re not going to close the door to that opportunity.”
Pickering and Hester filed charges against each other after the confrontation. Each posted $500 bonds Wednesday after Danks issued arrest warrants.
