Candidate John Rounsaville, former U.S. Rural Development Authority state director, asked that the Stennis Institute of Mississippi State University coordinate a total of four debates to be held throughout the state, one of them in Jackson.
The qualifying deadline for congressional races is Jan. 11. The seat is being vacated by longtime Congressman Chip Pickering.
Other candidates who have announced intentions to run for the post include state Sen. Charlie Ross, Madison businessman David Landrum and former Rankin County Republican Party Chairman Gregg Harper.
