PLUNKETT: Hosemann calls McDaniel challenge a distraction, then decides election law changes need HIM to be the champion

As Secretary of State, elections are Hosemann’s responsibility to oversee. But his change in position over the past several weeks from defending the process as pristine to now being a champion of needed reforms–reforms that he himself won’t take a public position on–isn’t leading on the issue. It’s a political way to hedge his bets, and protect himself in 2015.

Any results of his handpicked committee will carry that same albatross into its deliberations, and ultimately be a waste of resources funded by Mississippi taxpayers to bolster Hosemann’s political career.
