Mayor Frank Melton on Thursday said he planned to deny a public records request from The Clarion-Ledger because he simply did not want to release the information.
Melton implied the only way to get the information – overtime paid to his bodyguards from December to present -would be litigation. “I’ll see you in court,” he said.
A day later, Melton said the administration would provide the information.
“I’m just frustrated with the whole process of the public records requests. (Reporters) should come to me first,” said Melton, although his administration requires public records requests before the release of information.
