Fixing Jackson’s budget woes could mean a tax increase, paying higher water and sewer fees and receiving fewer city services.

Officials discussed the dilemma in detail at Tuesday’s budget hearings.

The City Council must decide how to make up a $3.4 million revenue shortfall before deciding whether to fund the proposed 2008 general fund budget with a $2.6 million tax increase and a combined hike of almost 15 percent in water and sewer charges.
