North Little Rock Mayor Patrick Hays told the group of that city’s success in building an arena as part of its redevelopment. The project was funded with a local sales tax, state and private dollars.
With the current recession, any talk of taxes or new developments may seem like a reach. But that is exactly what must be done; there must be those willing to reach to explore the possibilities. That has been the case with every major economic success in downtown Jackson.
A new arena? Yes, we need one. In downtown Jackson? Definitely. In this economy? Have to look to the future. Are you kidding? Not in the least.
