JACKSON — State Sen. Jack Gordon – a state budget expert and institution at the Capitol – is expected to undergo surgery Friday at the University of Mississippi Medical Center because of a brain tumor in his right frontal lobe.
Sen. Terry Burton, R-Newton, said Gordon is “very positive” and “very thankful for people’s prayers and concerns.”
Gordon, a 65-year-old Okolona Democrat, suffered seizures in March and was hospitalized. Doctors discovered the tumor in follow-up testing.
Burton said Gordon is having a CAT scan today. Friday’s surgery will determine whether the tumor is removable.
“If it is and it needs to be removed, they’ll do the surgical procedure at that time, as I understand it,” Burton said.
