HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) –
With just two weeks left before the Mississippi Senate Republican primary, incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran has begun to throw punches at his opponent, state Sen. Chris McDaniel.
“He’s an extremist,” said Cochran on a stop to the USM nursing school Tuesday. “It’d be dangerous to have somebody like him elected.”
Cochran was in town to tour the school as it prepares for renovations.
“He’s the one that got us started on this project,” said Dr. Katherine Nungent on Cochran’s financial support.
Cochran said that being this close to the runoff election, it’s important to remind people of things McDaniel has said and done “and things he’s promised not to do.”
“We have a lot of federal initiatives, and if he’s going to cut the budgets, we’re going to be the state that suffers the most,” said Cochran. “To me, that’s unthinkable.”
