Mississippi’s U.S. Senators released statements today on the Senate immigration reform package.
Sen. Thad Cochran: “I will closely follow this ongoing immigration reform debate and the development of this new legislation. I hope the Congress will be able to find the right combination of changes that we need to improve border security, foreign worker policies and enforcement of our immigration laws.”
Sen. Roger Wicker: “Illegal immigration remains a significant national security problem. Any legislation would need to go through committees, and until we see the full details of the proposal, it is too early to judge what impact it would have and whether there would be unintended consequences. Real border security must be the first priority of any reform efforts that hope to pass Congress.”
