College football season in Florida unofficially starts today when state coaches gather in Tampa for the annual Florida Sports Writers Association Media Days.
Let the clichés begin.
Coachspeak is the norm at these annual photo- and sound-byte opportunities, when the likes of Florida’s Urban Meyer, Miami’s Randy Shannon and Florida State’s Bobby Bowden mingle with media and the coaches from other state schools. It’ll continue next week when Conference USA, the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Southeastern Conference hold their annual media gatherings in various cities.
We’ll hear how a certain team might be pretty good if it’ll “take them one game at a time.” We’ll learn a few of these teams who haven’t practiced yet are “not a really good football team right now” because, well, the coaches “don’t know a lot about their football team” today. But they really “need to take care of the football.” This we know.
