Since his time in office, Kelly has faced issues regarding budgets and debt reduction, but mostly the fight against ISIS and policies regarding Syrian refugees.
He said when he first ran for office, the one thing voters sent him to Washington to do was protect the United States against all enemies – foreign and domestic.
“We are at war with ISIS,” Kelly said. “We may not be at war with them, but they are at war with us. They will stop at nothing. They’re recruiting. Their social media presence is great. We had two less than 90 miles away that were going to join.”
Regarding Syrian refuges seeking asylum in U.S. borders, Kelly voted yes on the American Security Against Foreign Enemies (SAFE) Act.
