Rep. Steven Palazzo quizzes Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel on ISIL strategy

WASHINGTON — Rep. Steven Palazzo, R-Biloxi, questioned Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin E. Dempsey during a House Armed Services Hearing today regarding the administration’s strategy and military campaign against ISOL, the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.

Palazzo opened the exchange by questioning whether the U.S. has been able to successfully disrupt ISIL’s main financial sources.

“Your point, question, observation is part of the comprehensive effort we are using to stop them, it isn’t just force…As you say, if you don’t cut off that funding source they’ll keep coming, and so it’s a priority piece of the overall strategy,” Hagel said.
