AUBURN — Gus Malzahn had spent most of the interview giving brief and straightforward answers to dozens of questions, so when he paused mid-answer and requested to make one point clear, reporters leaned forward in anticipation.
“You hear a lot about no-huddle and a lot about ‘fast,'” Malzahn said. “Our goal is to play fast. That’s who we are. That’s what we do. I like to think we’re a little bit different than everyone else.”
It was the closest that Auburn’s polite, affable and utterly uncontroversial offensive coordinator came to being forceful and insistent in a 30-minute sit-down with beat reporters Wednesday.
