Croom ‘destroyed’ myth minority coaches can’t succeed

Fired Mississippi State coach Sylvester Croom is returning to the NFL, hired Thursday as the running backs coach with the St. Louis Rams.
But his legacy as the first black head coach in the SEC remains.

In this story by ESPN.com’s Chris Low, Croom talked about the impact his hiring had at MSU along with the success the Bulldogs enjoyed. Croom was named SEC Coach of the Year in 2007 after leading MSU to a 8-5 record and a win in the Liberty Bowl.
