CSI: Halftime — Pete Townshend Solves Super Bowl Playlist Mystery

You might have heard this if you’ve been watching football for oh, the past three months: The Who is playing at halftime of the Super Bowl. And that the game will be on CBS.

Now, it appears, we know what lads will be rocking out to in South Florida. And, surprise, surprise, there’s a bit o’ subtle cross-promotion going on.

Guitarist Pete Townshend tells Billboard’s Web site the 12-minute set will be a “mashup” of stuff — a mashup that happens to include all of the theme music from the network’s “CSI:” franchise.

“A bit of ‘Baba O’Riley’ (CSI: New York), a bit of ‘Pinball Wizard,’ a bit of the close of ‘Tommy,’ a bit of ‘Who Are You’ (classic CSI:), and a bit of ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again.’ (CSI: Miami). It works — it’s quite a saga,” Townshend tells the mag.
