DAILY JOURNAL- OUR OPINION: Funding source needs to be found for infrastructure

But leaders of the state’s government admit getting a majority consensus on anything, let alone a tax increase, is difficult to achieve.

A group of Senate democrats, including Hob Bryan of Amory and Angela Turner of West Point, have proposed repealing the massive tax cut passed last year to fund the program.

Others say much of the needed revenue could be found by making the Department of Transportation more efficient.

An issue this significant needs to be dealt with sooner rather than later.

We encourage our state leaders to get serious about finding a funding source for the much-needed improvements to our roads, highways and bridges.
