Gov. Phil Bryant told the audience Beam, 52, was recommended by his judiciary committee, and he knew she was the right candidate.
“On this particular appointment, it came down to one candidate very quickly,” Bryant said. “I can tell you I was impressed with her concern and mission to help the foster children and those that are lost, neglected and abused in this state.”…
…Beam was appointed to the state Supreme Court to fill the unexpired term of former Justice Randy Pierce, who left the court to become director of the Mississippi Judicial College. His term expires Dec. 31. An election will be held in November for the new term that starts in January.
