Two Mississippians with long histories in Democratic politics are using their skills to attract faith-based voters to the Democratic Party.

Burns Strider and Glenn Rushing, former chiefs of staff to former Democratic 4th District Rep. Ronnie Shows, helped establish the Eleison Group in northern Virginia this month to reach out to religious voters, who have for decades trended Republican.

Both men worked on the presidential campaign of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, who dropped out of the race for the White House earlier this month.
