Dr. Randy Russell of Oxford, who pulled in 24 percent of Tuesday’s Republican vote for 1st District Congress, said he will endorse the race frontrunner, former Tupelo Mayor Glenn L. McCullough Jr.
Russell told the Daily Journal about his decision about 2:45 p.m. today.
“He is the closest to us in political philosophy,” Russell said in a telephone conversation.
McCullough will meet Southaven Mayor Greg Davis in the runoff. He took the top spot Tuesday in the three-way race by about 800 votes out of about 44,000 votes in the 23-county district.
