Government says trio should be tried together

Attorneys for Zach Scruggs and Backstrom insist their clients had nothing to do with those allegations and that, if presented, such evidence would cause them serious legal harm.

They “have not demonstrated compelling reasons why they would be unable to obtain a fair trial without the drastic relief requested,” concluded the government’s motion, which was the first of seven filed in response to defense motions.

Wednesday, Senior Judge Neal Biggers Jr. is scheduled to consider these motions in anticipation of a March 31 trial date.
